The Prime Minister Erdoğan was accompanied by members of the Turkish government and a business delegation consisting of almost 190 representatives of key Turkish businesses.

The main focus of the visit was related to economic issues as well as Turkey’s EU membership negotiations.

During his visit, Prime Minister Erdoğan also met with the Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and speaker of Finnish Parliament Eero Heinäluoma and representatives of Finnish businesses.

Niinistö praised Erdogan’s reforms in Turkey and said, “Marmaray is a marvelous project. I crossed over the sea from Europe to Asia when I was in Istanbul. Now, I want to cross it through under the sea.”

The Finnish media and the government broadcast-ed Erdogan’s speech live on TV and on their websites.

During Erdogan’s speech, a Turkish woman shouted at the PM in Turkish, “Mr. Prime Minister, unemployment is over ten percent at home. Everywhere Taksim, everywhere Gezi!” She was forcefully taken out of the Finlandia Talo auditorium by the Finnish security.
