Iran’s negotiating team arrives in Geneva

The Iranian negotiating team has arrived in the Swiss city of Geneva for a fresh round of talks with the representatives of six major world powers over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, Britain, France, China and Russia - plus Germany are to sit at the negotiating table set for 7 and 8 November to discuss Tehran’s nuclear energy program. The two sides wrapped up two days of nuclear talks in Geneva on October 16.

The Iranian delegation, headed by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, arrived in Geneva on Wednesday, to hold consultations prior to the negotiations.

Araqchi is accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takh-e-Ravanchi, Foreign Ministry's Director General for Political and International Affairs Hamid Ba'eedinejad, Foreign Minister's Legal Adviser Davoud Mohammadnia and Director General for Defensive Affairs at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Amiri.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is to join the negotiating team on Wednesday.

EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton will head the six countries in the talks.
