Armenian MPs to meet with Iranian Majlis Speaker in Tehran

A 3-member delegation of the Armenian National Assembly will travel to Tehran on November 2, Iranian Parliament Speaker's top adviser for international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam told Tasnim news agency in an interview.

During the visit, the Armenian delegation will meet with Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee as well as Chairman of the Iran-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

On August 5, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the Islamic Republic will seek to expand relations with Armenia.

“The relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Armenia have always been friendly, close and based on mutual interests, and definitely in the future, Tehran’s efforts will focus on deepening relations and improving cooperation in all sectors,” Rouhani said in a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan in Tehran.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always expanded interaction with Armenia based on cultural and civilization commonalities,” the Iranian president said.

For his part, Sargsyan highlighted two decades of effective and constructive cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan.
