Armenia, Austria have great potential for cooperation

There is great potential for Armenia-Austria cooperation in a number of fields, Armenia’s and Austria’s presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Heinz Fischer said at their meeting Tuesday.

In particular, the countries have potential for cooperation in trade, industry, culture and education. Bilateral visits, business forums and establishing contacts between businessmen are of key importance to ensure the existing potential is fully used, Sargsyan and Fischer said.

The sides also stressed the importance of efforts by Armenian-Austrian intergovernmental commission. Sargsyan said Fischer’s last year visit to Armenia gave a good impetus to development of friendly ties between the countries.

The sides also discussed the urgent regional and global issues, Karabakh peace process and the results of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents’ meeting Tuesday. Fischer has invited Sargsyan to again visit Austria in 2014; Armenian president accepted the invitation.

The closed meeting of the two presidents held in Vienna was the first over the last two years. Aliev-Sargsyan negotiations took two hours, and the mediators joined them afterwards.
